Firsts & Friends

First we went here....
then we met some new friends.

And reunited with old friends! Hi Flipper! Hi Brooke! Hi Karen!
Brooke was in town last week visiting her parents, Karen and Steve, who live in Palm Coast about 30 miles from Anastasia Island. (Brooke wants you all to know that she is "with child" not "with burrito and too many cupcakes".) We met at Marineland, a dolphin conservation center where we got up close and personal (i.e. wet) playing with our new flippered friends.
Then we went search of the prettiest shell on the beach.
Hazel found it right away so Brooke threw her in the ocean! Jealousy...what it does to people...
Hazel and I tried to butter up the neighboors and our new friends by making them chocolate chip cookies.
Obviously she has learned early on how to handle the best part of making cookies.
Saturday was spent at the beach. Hazel made her first sand castle.
Let's just say it didn't last long enough to take a picture.

Sunday we went shopping and bought our first piece of local art.

But life's not always a beach and Monday Matt had to start work. He does look pretty though don't ya think?

It was an exciting week of firsts and friends but there is no better way to clear your mind then a nice evening drive in the Winnie the Pooh car.

But first we need to figure out where the gas goes...

We're Locals Now

We're locals now...yep, I'm fitting right in here in Florida.
Do you like?
I went on a date with this total hottie last weekend.

Yeah, I'm pretty lucky. The date started with some much needed Om....ing.

Followed by our new favorite find. Casa Maya. Organic, Vegetarian, Mexican. Yes, I'm not kidding. They probably should just rename the place Casa Abbie & Matt right this second. Organic (check), Vegetarian (yep, that's us), Mexican (born and raised).

The food was sssssssssooooo good that it was captured for prosperity. Well, that and to make every vegetarian, organic mexican reader of this blog dool. (Hi Susan)

Hazel found eggplants at the love of my life, secret crush Wednesday Market today for only a dollar. She's a bargin shopper if you ask me. Geeze the cart was heavy today!

Until next time, I leave you with a confession...

Bon Voyage Birthday Boy

It's somebody's birthday...don't be shy!

Whew we have been busy! First Hazel HAD to go swimsuit shopping.

Right away she found one that she just had to have but...did it go with her flip flops?
Echo gave double paws up! Then it was off to the pool. Just Matt, Abbie ,Hazel, and our guy Randy. Let me tell you a little somethin somethin about Randy. Randy is retired and "he's on the board here at Makarios". He's REALLY important and loves to tell you about how he's on the board and all. He's in charge of all the pool area and he's very proud of our pool. The pool shines people. I mean it sparkles. Amen Randy.

I mean that water...ahhhh...it's amazing. Agreed?
Matt's Birthday were celebrated with banana flapjacks (yeah, I'm a good wife sometimes...on occassions...okay birthdays I guess), a saling trip, a special dinner at the Gypsy Cab Co., and truck loads of cake with a whollllleee lota candles. Not really, he's only 32. That's not too many. We took in different view of the island.

Dolphins! We saw lots of dolphins. Flipper probably. I think I have may been more excited about that then Hazel. But she's 2. She would be more exicted to see Barney or Elmo.

The Wednesday Market

I have met my soul mate...The Wednesday Market! Yes, Wednesday as in EVERY single Wednesday Hazel and I get to have a date with the bounty of veggies and fruit. Today we bought tomatoes, peaches, okra, apples, broccoli, carrots, onion, kiwi, cilantro...all for $16! I am in love. After riding home on our bikes we immediatley devoured 3 juicy, ripe Georgia peaches.

Then we raced the turtle across the sand. We won.

Going from 820 square fot to over 2000 square feet called for some furniture shopping. Monday we hopped in the car to where else but the HUGEST mall we have ever seen. Ikea here we come. 8 hours later and a near disaster strapping a painting to the roof of the passat...Hazel and Matty got to work assembling our new purchases. Final pictures to come...

Island Living

Here's where it all begins... 42 hours of driving, 26 foot truck, 16 foot car trailer, 1850 miles. Fueled by caffine and sugar.

We made it! Home Sweet Home.

Just in time to catch the moon from our patio.

First stop, the BEACH!

Then we celebrated our 5th wedding Anniversary by driving across the bridge to the mainland (bye Island, Hello traffic). Crab, fro-yo, and lots of love!

You know you want some... Hugs and Kisses! Abbie + Matt + Hazel
